FAQs

What is your catchment area?

King Street has no catchment. We welcome children from all over Cambridge.

What are the fees?

Fees are £18 per session which should be paid half termly in advance by bank transfer or cheque. We ask that you register for a minimum of two sessions per week. We accept Early Years Funding and a variety of Childcare Vouchers. We can also accept a limited number of children who are eligible under the 'free twos' scheme.

How do I register my child for a place?

You can complete the registration form on this website or pick one up from Pre-School. This should be returned to Paulina Geller, Pre-School Manager, along with a non-refundable deposit of £30. All children need to be registered for a minimum of 2 sessions per week.

I've registered my child for a place, when will I find out if they've been successful?

Whilst we are not a Local Authority Maintained nursery school, we follow the dates set out for admissions under the Cambridgeshire County Council Nursery Admissions Policy. These dates are noted on the Registration Form.

Is there snack time?

Yes, we have a rolling snack time so that the children can access their snack and drink when they prefer. Parents/carers are to provide the snack which should be kept to fruit, vegetables and dry snacks such as crackers or breadsticks, along with a filled water bottle. Please label snack pots and water bottles. Milk and additional water is of course available to the children as required.

What should my child bring with them?

As a minimum, they should bring a complete change of clothes (including underwear and socks), nappies (for those still wearing them), snack and drink. Each child has a peg to hang their bag but we ask that all belongings are taken home at the end of each session. During the Summer, please provide sunscreen and a hat.

What if I'm late to pick my child up?

Please let us know as soon as possible that you will be late. A late fee of £5 per five minutes will be charged.

Can I stay with my child during their first few sessions?

We would encourage parents not to stay at school but to remain in the vicinity during those first sessions. We realise it can be difficult for everyone when a child starts pre-school but rest assured we will contact you immediately should there be any problems.

Who should I contact if my child is unwell/unable to attend their sessions?

Please contact Paulina Geller, Pre-School Manager (ideally by 10am), on 07742 376299. In accordance with current guidelines, we would ask that children do not return to re-school for 48 hours after the last instance of vomiting or diarrhoea. Unfortunately, we are not able to refund fees due to non-attendance.

Do any of your staff have any training in Special Educational Needs?

Yes. Both the Manager and the Deputy Manager are qualified Equalities Named Coordinator (ENCo) and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).
